We design bioclimatic sanctuaries. Merging rammed earth foundations with passive solar integration to create spaces that breathe alongside their ecosystems — calibrated for the next century of weather, not the last decade of taste.

§ 02 — Method

Every structure begins as a drawing of the weather.

Before timber meets foundation, each commission is resolved twice: once as a render against the landscape, and once as an orthographic wireframe scrutinised for thermal mass, prevailing wind, and the angle of the December sun. Toggle the lens.

01 / The
Obsidian
Retreat.

Anchored into the basalt cliffside, this residence utilizes a geothermal heat exchange system and cross-ventilation corridors to eliminate the need for artificial climate control. The facade, treated with traditional Shou Sugi Ban, acts as both a visual anchor and a natural weather deterrent.

The roofline cantilevers 4.2 metres beyond the cliff edge — a calculated overhang that admits the low winter sun and rejects the high summer arc without a single mechanical louvre.
